The Shepherd with a Diminishing Flock
It may have taken a year, but the average American is beginning to understand that he has made a mistake. Our President is not “Commander and Chief” material. He had never served in the Armed Forces, his party has always been anti-military and given its approach to the current hostilities in Afghanistan, both he and his party have hamstrung our armed forces with rules of engagement that the enemy uses as their top ten list of idiocy. An Obama – Pelosi – Reid triumvirate making up the rules of war is an oxymoronic gesture in failure.
Mr. Obama is not made of the same mighty Oaks from which other Presidents were hewn. He does not consider America as being special. In his mind, we are merely a member of the family of nations, and nothing more. Our past accomplishments, on behalf of other nations, reeling under the burden of war, or other hardships, do not make us stand out. In his mind, we should reach out to our enemies with an open hand rather than a closed fist. Past experience should have taught him that all this gets you is a slap in the face, but he apparently is unaware of past history.
At a time when foreign policy is of utmost importance, he uses the post of Secretary of State to banish a political opponent, whose experience in foreign policy is perhaps one step above his, and whose successes will be measured in ounces rather than pounds. Sec. Clinton is not up to the task of making the tough political decisions in the Middle East, Pakistan, Iran, and North Korea. She is a child among men in Russia and its past satellite nations. She is a pawn among the tribal governments in the mountainous terrain of Afghanistan. However, she is the perfect individual to represent the isolationism that Mr. Obama is trying to bring to this nation.
Political correctness has never nor will ever be able to control a Kim Jong Il or the Mullahs of Iran or that nation’s insane president, any more than our approaches in South Africa have been able to stop the genocidal acts of a few, to the despair of the many. All we have done in these despotic nations is fill the coffers of the maniac dictators with our human aid dollars, provided as bribes to come to the negotiating table, while they continue to kill their own and laugh at our sorry attempts at world peace. How many times must a cannon ball fly before America understands that it is so often the source of the gun powder? You cannot buy peace with the almighty dollar.
The allies under FDR and Gen. Eisenhower realized that you cannot negotiate with an enemy which is intent on having its way. Hitler had to be destroyed. Truman understood the force of power and how it had to be used to overcome the nation of Japan, which was hell bent on victory or suicide. The Soviet Union had to face total economic bankruptcy due to its out of control military budget, as the result of a President who was unwilling to accept the status quo. before it dissolved. Our current President is not of that stature. He comes from the streets of Chicago where he practiced local politics. Such does not grow Presidential timber.
He gives a good speech. He chooses his words carefully, and instills a belief, among like minded fellow travelers, that he knows the correct path to take in dealing with other world leaders. But, he is himself not a world leader. He is merely a follower who, through his lack of past experience, and as a result of a socialistic political indoctrination, at the hands of others, is perhaps best described not as the Manchurian Candidate, but rather the best candidate to bring us CHANGE which, in the long run, will change America for generations to come and in a way in which those who supported his candidacy will come to regret.
The United States is not on the same level as a Honduras, a Sudan, a Romania or any other nation who has looked to others for support and welfare, throughout its history. I use these names only as an example. There are many others such nations seated at the U.N. We are special and have been special since our founding. Along the way, we have had our problems, but we always solved them on our own. Along the way, we have had incompetent leaders, but the harm they did was resolved by new and stronger leaders. So to shall this administration pass. I can only hope that given enough time, the problems that it has created and will create for this nation can be resolved. Leaders rise naturally to the top. They do not need artificial assistance. Once there, they lead, both this nation and the rest of the free world. Again, they do not need to seek help in order to do so. We lead by example, and others follow. Unfortunately, we are not leading, and it is for sure that no one is following.
